How do we make people? We implement Familyhood.
Familyhood is a systemic, inter-generational approach of building healthy, sustainable communities utilizing schools as the center of the communities development.
Familyhood believes, “The more Alumni a community produces, the more developed a community will become.”
*Alumni are graduates of the school who come back to mentor/ support the Student Government Association.
Since Familyhood is inter-generational, every generation has a role to play within the system. The main role of each individual is to join one of the three main school-based organizations.
For each student, join the Student Government Association. For each parent, join the Parent Teacher Association. For each Alumni / Alumnae, join the Alumni Association.
For everyone else, be a “Friend of the school.”
Familyhood defines the 1st Saturday of the month as the official “Monthly Volunteer Day” at schools and the “do now strategy towards advancing Familyhood in any community.
Familyhood is driven by two mottoes:
1) Every school shall have a functioning Student Government Association, Parent Teacher Association and Alumni Association.Â
2) Every school shall have a garden, a farmers market and a grocery store.
In essence, a school’s Familyhood plans/operates the school garden, farmers market and grocery store.
The “do now” strategy for a school/community to advance towards Familyhood is 1st Saturdays. 1st Saturdays represents the first Saturday of each month as the official monthly volunteer day at schools.
Schools can sign-up at 1st Saturdays.com
